Yeah, I know your turbos not coming soon. Hopefully, you'll have another video of your car when you get it running again (and painted too, perhaps?), I can't wait. However, I just had to share with you something I remembered from a CarCraft article on superchargers: Unlike the roots-style blowers, a centrifugal supercharger (similar in construction and operation to a turbo) creates boost mostly at higher rpms. So that's why late-model Mustang owners' first mods are a Vortec or Paxton. They don't need to rebuild their engine with 8.5:1 compression because the boost is only built up at high rpms when the engine load is low, thus they're running like 13.5:1 CR at the time, but no knocks! So if you go with a huge turbo that only spools at high revs, you don't need to mod the engine, as I understand it.

Sorry, long post and probably off topic, but I had to share. Good luck and can't wait to see the video, Zeph! Keep us posted.

Dang, rx7speed, this is an old post!!! You remember me, right? We had a great discussion on 3" duals on a daily driver and why they actually increase backpressure....

Anyway, an update on my friend's Rx7:
He's going to the dyno with a new intercooler and a slew of other mods on his FD, expecting 330-350rwhp still using the stock twin turbos! Later, he's going with a GT35/40 for 700hp-potential (yikes!) but he said he'll keep the boost down to 400-450rwhp since he's autoXing it and doesn't wanna overpower the rear tires coming out of a turn... pretty cool, huh??

Makes me wanna turbo... or two like Monty!

Later,
Chris

P.S.
Zeph, how's the car coming along? It's still amazing to me how some of this site's best cars still have no paint!!! (Steve and you!)

I think it is b/c it is an old post! When i go to look up some things, the pics don't come up either. Don't know how old a post has to be for them not to work but i am pretty sure that is why they do not show. As far as the RX7, sounds sick! Tell your friend to keep up with the good work, you know, if the motor doesn't give out.

Yeah, his those wankel rotaries are pretty cool... er, for an import (before I get my a$$ whooped, haha). You're right about the "if the motor doesn't give out" part. My friend has only 78k miles on his '94 and the car already had a new motor when he bought it!!! Still, if you know what you're doing, and I don't think my friend's sparing any expense on this beast (he's got one of them "stand alone fuel management units" they mentioned on fastandthefurious--only $1200; not $10k as Vin Diesel would have you believe ), you can make some mad hp, but no low end torque, of course, that's our jobs!

Well, sorry, I know this is off topic, but rx7speed may know my friend. He goes by "ttpowerd" on rx7club.com...

Where's Zepher??? Any new progress? Yeah, the pics are too old or something...
Later,
Chris

I am here, the pics were linked to an old server, but I fixed them in this thread.

Progress Report: 11-16-2002
LT4 is still being built up. I have the heads and intake ready, just deciding on if I want to use the forged pistons I have or get some other ones. My intake has been drilled for the Nitrous,

I used the old brass lines, going to either use braided lines or some new brass lines.
Car is now sitting on a set of OZ Racing Monte Carlos, 17x9.5.
I opted to go with the 85-90 Whale Tail spoiler,

Just saving some money to buy some more parts and hopefully have the car on the road again in late January.

Looking great man! Keep it up. If you don't mind me asking, how much SHOULD it cost to have the intake drilled for that N2O system? I was thinking of doing that to my miniram if "more power" if ever desired! Thanks-Bryan

I don't have a clue on what it would cost. My friend did it for me as a favor. He's a machinist at one of the local Shipyards.

Well, the pics are back so it took me like 10 minutes to load this page, but oh, well...

Looks good, Zepher. I like the old WS6s better, myself (although I liked the old GT steering wheel better too), but the intake looks killer!!! I like the detailing work you did... So 200-shot on the LT4, huh? What's wrong with the forged pistons you have?

Later,
Chris
P.S.
I still haven't been in the VA area yet recently, but I'd love to check out your car sometime... my sis goes to college in MA, so I'll be passing by your neighborhood sometime or other!
