Custom body
Custom body
I have been thinking about buying the evo kit for my car. I finally decided not to get it. But i am going to get custom body work done, i am going to get a custom front bumper put in that uses lights like vipers, a viper bumper( front and baxk) to fit on my car, and a hood that curves like the viper. I have a friend who makes parts for cars out of fiberglass so i am getting it made. just thought i would share.
ya'know i've read several of your posts and if anything is clear it's that you have a lot of cash. If you like the way the viper looks why don't ya just buy one of those??? it's not even a gm car dood whassup? I love the evo kit and interior and of course the scissordoors but have nowhere near the amount of $ to do that so i'm chillin wit my Jena like she is man. But if ya got the cash do what you will i'm just curious as to why you'd buy an older car to turn it into a brand new car of a different color so to speak
ooohhh wait lemme get this straight .... he wants to convert his 3rd gen to look like a viper and everyone praises him ... and anything else I ever mentioned everyone screams 'RICE!!' hahhahaah thats hallrious!!!!

Im sure 1stgenracer is like me - he spends so much money on cars because he loves them. I am 19 and have been working since I have been 14. Since then, I am proud to say I own four cars that I bought with my own money. One of them is my 86 Camaro which I am completely restoring, thanks to the dick who had it before me who abused the hell out of it. I was thinking about buying the evo kit too, but instead, I just bought all the aftermarket body panels in fiberglass. Needless to say....I think I speak for 1stgenracer when I say that we do it because its an obsession/hobby...

Thats a good question!! Well I can't post for anyone else, but I know for me personally I dont like new cars. Of all the cars out these days, not alot of them appeal to me ... and the only ones that do cost 50 grand and above. I would rather take older cars and fix them up to the standards I want. I've had my 3rd gen (90 rs) since highschool and I've always liked the style. I never really planned to mod it that much, but after watching hours of old school IROC racing I started to feel the need to go all out performance wise ... and this was before I even saw an EVO kit. The EVO was the icing on the cake for me. Exotic car looks for 10 grand?? Hell yeah!! Once I saw the EVO I knew that was the car I need to build to have a 'one-of' here in Hawaii. And it needs to be fast as hell!!!
So the project plans changed as time went on ... first I wanted to turbocharge the L98 in the stock body and leave it at that ... then I looked into an LS1 (all aluminum motor would be good for roadracing!) and a few months later looked into turbocharging the LS1. But after seeing how much it is to rebuild a LS1 to handle the power I wanted and not blow up ... need to use the heavy iron truck block (kinda defeated the purpose!) I gave up on the forced induction LS1 idea. So for now the plan is a rebuilt L98 for boost (8:1 compression, foarged internals, o-ring'd aluminum heads) using a single T76 turbo system at 15 psi as the method of forced induction ... mated to a beefed up T56, carbon fiber driveshaft and either a 12 bolt rear or a ford 9" rear. Also plan to do complete suspension (coilover setup), upgraded brakes to 13" rotors and 6 piston calipers and a set of 18" wheels. And imagine all that under that wicked looking EVO kit ... it would kick *** and it would be fast!!! LS1 Motorsports got their 4th gen to run a 9.89 @ 141 ... 701 rwhp and weighing 3900 pounds. The EVO kit will bring a 3rd gen down to 2890 pounds. Add that together with some other weight reduction and it should weigh under 3000 pounds with driver (yeah I'm a big guy lol). So If I can get anywhere near 700 rwhp on my setup I can guarante 11's ... 10's after practice ... maybe even 9's!! and all on street tires!! Every once in a while we have Hawaii's Fastest Streetcar Shootout .... and we do have some beasts here in Hawaii ... 1st gen Camaro with a big block, 9 stage NOS setup and huge slicks (9's), older buick t-type turbo (9's) and a 2000 corvette with a 422ci LS1 and 150 shot of NOS (9's on street tires) ... I want to compete at this level ...
And so when everything is said and done ... I'm sure I'll get more satisfaction out of building this 3rd gen than I would buying any new model car out there.

I bought the car a few years ago before i started making my money. I spend all of my money on my car because if i didnt, i would spend it on something else. I just thought about what all of u guys said. I guess that i am just going to keep it a thirdgen. After reading what people say, my car would be fake, and i dont want that. I am just going to get things like a ram air hood and 4th gen spoiler, an Ls1 engine put in(not until next year, dont have the time to do it yet) and many other things that i am doing to it now. I already ordered a 4th gen interior and that is my project now. After that, i will start doing other things. I want to be able to beat any car that races me. So because of me getting a free ride to college, my parents are getting me a supercharger to put in my car. Maby later on in like a year or 2, i will get a 4th gen also and see which i can make faster. Cars are a great hobby of mine, I have loved them ever since i was 10.
