To those of you making your own overlays
What do you guys print it out on? Do you take it somewhere to get it printed? How does it hold up over time?
Thanks,

Ken

i printed mine on photo paper, and glued them on with 3M spray adhesive, i am currently trying to figure out how to print them on either blank cd labels, or contact paper that way you dont have to glue em
i printed mine on photo paper too but i just used a glue stick instead of the spray works perfect no peeling yet. the hardest thing for me was to punch a hole in the center for the needles on the tach and speedo cuz i wanted them perfect.

How exactly do you perfectly punch the holes in the middle and around the odometer? I don't want it to suck :-)

Thanks for the info on the photo paper and the CD layouts, I'll check it out and also continue looking for other possibilities.

I used Kodak Matte Photo Paper and then glued it onto
the CD labels with a gluestick. Works great. I would have
used Gloss photo paper but I wanted them perfect
and its IMPOSSIBLE to not get a finger print on the
guages once they are printed on gloss paper.
The hardest part for me was cutting the odometer
rectangle and trip rectangle. It is very hard to get these
perfect even with a ruler. I ended up using those
box knife blades and cutting them with a dremel to
the length of the rectangle and then lining it up
and hitting the top lightly with a hammer to punch
the line threw. It seems to cut more straight that way.
Another thing to think about is getting a Punch set
for the Bright light indicator and trip reset button. Those
are bigger then the other holes that you use a hole
punch for. I just used dads punch set...
I am waiting on getting the needles airbrushed. I tried
the Marker from Ryan MacEwen and its impossible to
get the marker on their without "Pooling the ink"
One last word of advice. START YOUR CAR UP and let
it run for a while and write down where the needles
are when your car is running. You can also take note
of the resting position of all the needles when you shut
ur car off but BE SURE TO take notes when it is RUNNING.
That way when you put the needles back on you can get
it exact. I made the mistake of only taking pictures without
the car running :rolleyes
