What is this? I head its like a plastic headliner of some sort. My headliner is sagging and I was thinking of maybe this to replace it. Any info or pictures is appreciated. Thanks

For those who might be interested here is one for sale from the same place I got mine.
Total cost was $164.95,,including shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1819734464

No I didn't get all the extras, but like I said they included enough extra matereal to redo the sail panels, and the visors will just have to wait.
Jim what kind of questions do you have,,I might be able to help??

How do i go about moving the plastic clips from the old visors to the new ones, how do I move the clips from the old sail panel to the new ones? they look permanent. How would i go about transferring the vanity mirror thats on the old passenger side visor to the new one? and so and so on and so on.

Sorry Jim can't help you with that..Weird that the clips wouldn't be on the new ones,,what clips do you meen on the visors though,,and the miror,,not sure,my t-top visors dont have a mirror on them.
No it dosn't requre any special tools,,a screwdriver ,and a good sharp pair of siccors.Yes it can be done in a couple hours,,and the extra matereal they sent was the exact same stuff that was on the headliner,,with foam backing on it,Aprox. 5' by 3' plenty to do the sailpanels.

FYI, I did find it easier to use a dermel tool with a cutt-off wheel to cut the abs material, the razor knife wasn't getting me anywhere. That abs is some tough stuff to cut. I will try to get some pix this afternooon when the rain is out of the area. The material supplied with the headliner for the sail panels was just the same foam backed cloth used to cover the headliner board. I intend to use what I have left for custom door panels.

so it was stretchy type of material so that it could be formed over the curves in the board, not like regular old fabric could be, right ?
thanks

It was the same fabric as the factory stuff. Take a look at the pix of the one above. mine was the same thing, only black fabric. The fabric comes attached to the board when you get it. all you have to do is remove the old board and put the new one in. If you have an overhead console you will have to cut out the holes for the other sets of screws, but a template is included with the headliner board. check out the link I attached for more details. I did it by myself with no help in a little less than an hour.

That looks really good, I'm glad to see some pics of one finally in a car! I had a few questions too. Jim, did you get yours from the same people? Also, you mentioned having to cut the ABS, if it comes like the first two pics show, don't you just have to cut the holes for the visors and light? What part of the plastic did you have to cut? Finally the auction says:
In order to ship affordably (or at least avoid truck freight anyway), the headliner comes rolled up, you must lay it out for 24 hours. It will retake its proper shape, and then it's ready to install!
What comes rolled up, the extra fabric? It sounds like the whole thing, but how could one roll up the ABS plastic? I'm sorry for all the questions, I just want to learn as much as I can about it before I drop the cash!

Man it has bee nawhile since I posted....

I answer to the shipping question, I am assuming the headliner material does not come attached to the board...so when they ship it it is rolled up and then you just glue it to the board.

My headliner came with the material attached to the board, but the whole entire headliner was cut into two pieces! The pieces join together below the center dome light, but there is a gap between the two boards.

Looks like the one in the picture doesn't have this problem. I would like to know if you had to apply the material yourself though.

FYI....both Classic Industries and Year One sell boards and covered headliner boards...supposedly they are one piece nowadays, not like they were 2 years ago when I bought them as 2 pieces....

O.K. I just did mine this past weekend ,, as pictured,,
and here is the scoop..
YES the matereal is already attatched to the ABS
YES the holes are cut out for you,but I did have to use a SHARP pair of siccors to trim a little for the visors but it was very little,,and also to cut away the fabric for the dome light, visors and seatbelts.
YES it is shipped folded in half.Yes it's plastic but thin enough to fold without hurting it.Picture the two visor pieces touching folded down the middle, front to back with the two back peices touching too,,.Just folded in half..and held that way with some extra material wraped around it a few times,on both ends where the two sides meet, and then taped. The extra material they send is mostlly odds and ends of diffrent color but it says in the instructions that come with ( YES,INSTRUCTIONS not that YOU would need those) That there is a piece in there that is the exact same stuff to redo your sail panels with!!
Is that all of the questions??
Sorry to rambel on but,, well ...I had alot to say!
How about somemore pictures then.Remember I havn't done those sailpanels Yet.Wish I know of some good glue to use on them??

I bought mine from Hawks thirdgen, The cut-outs are for the people that have the overhead console with the flashlight/map-lights. It was a beutiful day today and I finally got the tops out for a picture that I have been promising for over a week now.

Thanks guys, I'm sorry again for all the questions. I just wanted to know before I bought.

scott's85T/A: I didn't realize the plastic would bend like that, that's why it wasn't making sense to me. Also, one last thing, you mentioned that once folded it's wrapped in odds and ends of fabric, that's just for padding sake right? Just a bunch of scraps to safegaurd it, and the extra pieces to do the sail panels are seperate and the correct color?

Jim: Ah, ok, I wasn't thinking about the overhead consoles, I only have the domelight. I'll probably buy mine from Hawk's too, as he's only about 20 min from here.

Thanks again guys!

-Maul

*wishes he could buy a headliner now, but knows he needs to fix the t-top leak first. *

Yes they do come covered with cloth, but I believe you can order them without if you choose to do so.
