Braking Issue

What's up? Does anyone here know how to adjust the Emergency brake for our cars? 'Cause sometimes it feels like when I pull my e-brake, I get an extra boost instead of slowing me down. Thanks.

get underneath the car and find where the handle cable meets the union from the rear. Its obvious how to adjust it from there. Tighten or loosen. If you've got drum rear brakes make sure the hardware is fine and that they are adjusted right.

Should the e-brake be on or off? And do I tighten it near the transmission or near the rearend? By the way, it's a rear drum setup.

Theres an adjustment nut where the SINGLE cable from the E-handle "splits into TWO(1 for each wheel).Just turn the nut so it takes up some of the slack.BEFORE you do that drive your car in reverse & hit the brakes a couple of times so your drums set/adjusted properly. Then adjust the cable.Leave the E-brake off to adjust.
