Disc Brakes??

Ok, my 84 is disc up front, drum in the back. I hate those drum brakes. Just got the car, and wanted discs all the way around. What do I do?

since you have disk in the front already.. you need a parts list to change out the rears. or a good rear with disk already. what rear end do you have now?

You could swap out the drums with the LS1 type rear brakes. There is a tech article about that here. I followed it and some of the other posts that people had about there change over and had much success. You can get a complete setup from a place called TA Creations. www.tacreationsusa.com They list the complete kit for $200, its used, but I just bought new rotors, pads and painted the calipers. Works great, easy to install...

If you want to change gear ratios, swap rears. If you like the gears you have, do a rear brake conversion. I recommend the LT1/1LE rear brake style as it's a bit of a more direct bolt on swap than the LS1 style rear brakes.

oh, by the way, I was wanting to upgrade my brakes aswell. tired of the little stock brakes I had on my 01 Z28. Want my 84 Z28 to have a bigger, slotted disc. What do I buy, again all four need disc's. I think we are getting close. thanks

....you think LS1 brakes are SMALL??? You're going to need to drive on 17s all year long if you want a setup even bigger than LS1s. Well, of course, unless you go with a C4HD setup I believe..

Just go buy an LS1 rear-end. You won't be happy with LT1 rear brakes if you think LS1 brakes are small. The LS1 rear end swap is not that hard, and it'll save you the cost of spacers in the end when you have to swap on your 17" 4th gen rims or 18/19" Vette rims to fit over those huge front brakes you're gonna have.
