Hey everyone, my ebrake doesn't work, and I still have a lot of pad left on my rear brakes. (84 trans am with stock rear discs) I heard something about the caliper's going bad, any info you guys can give me?

This was a common problem for 88 and back disc brake cars, so GM finally did an upgrade for the Moraine caliper with a repair kit. I do not have the part # , someone may jump in with it, but the problem as I recall was the adjustment mechanism failed to keep the pads close enough to the rotor resulting in little or no pad contact with the rotor. I remember this on some old threads that you might enjoy accessing. GM may still have the kit or you could upgrade to 89 and later rear discs. That would include 12 rotors, PBR calipers, brackets, cables, etc. which can be hard to find depending on the rearend your car has. I upgraded to the 89 brakes for my 88. Hope some of this long post helps.

If you should decide to go the PBR route, check the following thread:

Before swapping the replaced with the repair kit that Redbird mentions. Afterward, I never had a problem. A search should not only provide you with more details but also the part number.
