ok now i'm weirded out...

after reading a thread about how my braking starts 3/4 of way could be caused by the rear brakes not being adjusted due to the parking brake i decided to do some poking around today. that's when i found it: the driver's side rear caliper is facing towards the back of the car while the passenger side rear caliper is facing towards the front of the car. in summary, they are opposed to each other! i have a strong feeling this isn't the way they're supposed to be. which way are they supposed to be facing? and could this possibly be causing my brake problem?
