Car stalls when stomp brakes
How come my LG4 will stall if i stomp on the brakes hard?
I notice that when i gradually press the brakes and come to a complete stop the RPMs will drop but wont completely stall. If i stomp them to come to a fast stop It stalls the engine.
Anything?

I bet that the torque converter lockup is not releasing, or has a delayed release. Wonderful American engineering. I see that you have the tiny transmission. Does it have a locking converter?

honestly i dont know much about the transmisson, other than it is crap.
When i gradually brake(and come to a complete stop) the RPM drops below idle RPM then comes up...but if i stomp into it the car will stall...
Someone here im sure knows the inner workings of the 200c.
Could it somehow be related to running open headers?

I remember my Chrysler New Yorker. When the brake booster sprung a leak, the 440 began to run very lean. It would lean out further with brakes applied. This would cause it to peeter out at idle.

And, it occured to me, that if you have cruise, there is a vacuum bleed valve next to the brake taillight switch, to remove vacuum from the cruise control, when you brake. Think lean, very lean.

My old 85 z28 used to do that under rapid deacceleration. I always thought it was a fuel starvation proplem caused by fuel sloshing around in the gas tank and not finding its way through the lines... (lg4 w/ t-5)

My car does have cruise, but i never use it. can you give me more info on the "vacuum bleed valve next to the brake taillight switch"? can i block this off somehow?
Also my friend said it may have something to do with my carb float levels being set too low.

Cruise disengages when applying brakes. Does this with a vacuum bleed switch next to taillight switch. This same vacuum switch has an electric switch that shuts off current to torque-converter lock-up. Why the carb floats would go low is a mystery. The carb can be ruled out with the car on jacks or rollers.
