Hi I have a 92 Camaro RS 305 V8. The last few months my brakes have been acting funny. While braking downhill to a stop, halfway down or so my brake pedal gets soft and I have to push harder to stop the car. Then I smell my front brakes burning. That only happens when braking downhill.

The other braking problem I have is that my brakes seem to want to lock up right before I stop the car instead of stopping smoothly. When this happens I do not smell any brakes and the brake pedal feels normal. This happens when not going down any hills.

Note that I have a full brake pedal all the time and my brake fluid is full. I do not see any leaks anywhere. Also the car does not pull to the left or right when braking. My brake pads and shoes are less than a year old.

Any advice is appreciated.
