Brake Problem
Brake Problem
My car want's to pull to the right while I am driving sometimes and when I put on the brake the pedal is a little hard when pressing down. When I come to a stop and let off the brake I can feel that the brake is dragging when the car is moving forward. This happens on and off, sometimes the car does not want to pull to the right when I am driving which I assume is the brake dragging and sometimes the brake does not drag when the car goes foreward after stopping. Does this have to do with the power brake booster? I have turned the car off and pumped the brake 5 or 6 times then applied pressue with my foot to the brake pedal and have started the car, the pedal does fall slightly. Can the booster still be faulty after trying this and does the booster affect the dragging brake? Or is it a sticking caliper. I have noticed a sqeal coming from the right front wheel sometimes when I move forward after applying the brakes. The squeal goes away after a few seconds or so. Is this because the brake is still dragging? Any anwers would be appreciated.

I had a brake drag once and it progressively got worse. Turned out to be the rubber brake hose. They can look fine on the out side but the inner liner comes lose and causes a random blockage.
Finally got so bad the tire just locked. Had to remove my brake pads to drive home.
Though it could also be the pins.
There is Orings sliders for the pins to travel on and rusty nasty pins could be dragging.
But an easy work around is if you have advanced auto near by.
You can get new calipers for $10 each, comes with new pins and all.
Brake hose is like $15 though. At that price its affordable to just slap new calipers on, just to have new parts. Plus you can trade them in once for free then they pro rate it. And of course you should already have some lifetime warranty pads to change out when ever.
