LS1 front brakes offset causing wheel rub
LS1 front brakes offset causing wheel rub
I did a search about this and was not able to find anything that would be useful, so I decided to ask
Its an 89 camaro RS with ROH snyper rims. I upgraded my front brakes to LS1 brakes. I have 17X9 rim in the front with 245/45/17 tire in the front. The problem is I am not using the stock steering stop (I couldnt find any way of keeping the stop, when I upgraded). I have not extended the stops that are on the A-Arm.
The problem now is when I go lock to lock left or right it rubs. On the right handed turn the inside of the tire hits the inner fender wall, and while going in it hits the fender plastic cover underneath a little bit on the back side ( I will try to post pictures tommorow). On the left handed turn it doesnt hit the fender wall on the inside at all from what I can see, but it still hits the inner plastic cover a little.
I noticed that the tires have come out like .3 of an inch. Is there any remedy / solution to this problem?.
Another question on the same topic. If I upgrade my rears to LS1 brakes as well. I run a 17X9.5 275/40/17 tire in the back. Would the offset come out or go in. Going in would be bad as I have like an inch maybe less between the inner tire and the wall on the back.
Any thoughts?.
Thanks

Second question: No change in rear offset, rotor hats and drums will give you the same spacing so all is well back there.

I am not running any spacers. The Snypers I got were made for correct offsets for front and back for the 3rd gen's. Is there anything else I can do like extend the stock stops on the A-Arm?. I dont think the plastic rubbing the tire on the fender cover on the bottom is as big as a problem as the inside of the tire rubbing the fender wall, unless someone tells me otherwise.
Glad to know about the rears...those were really begining to worry me.

Rubbing the plastic liners will give you no problems, you can always get another set of those..I have a few just in case I ever need them. Maybe you should modify the A-arm stops if you keep having troubles, that's my only suggestion...and make wider turns when you can.
