Cable that hooks to ebrake lever handle?

The cable that hooks to the ebrake lever and goes through the floor board and attaches to the rears under the car has snapped so I bought a used one. But the one I bought doesn't attach the same way. The one I bought has a tab with a hole on the end of it to hook to the ebrake gear. The one that broke, slipped in and hooked.......<----does that make sense?

Did they change over the years? My car is a 1991. I believe I bought one from an 87 or 88. Can I buy this part at Autozone or something?

Here is a link to an Ebay add, this is the kind of ebrake handle assembly I have. The hole in the circle peice is how mine attaches.
