... for whether the rear brake lines on an'85 are the same as a '96.

Sorry,
I've searched and looked for whether the rear brake lines on an'85 are the same as a '96.

I upgraded the rear brakes to LT1 and have the LT1 lines up to the "T" fitting.

The "T" fitting is a stainless steel Earles part for an '85, but the LT1 lines bottom out on the "T" fitting and I don't believe they are seated down properly. The Earls "T" fitting has a really deep recess for the brake lines and is where I think my problem lies.

Has anyone run into this?
Any help is appreciated.

It will depend on the "T" fitting, whether they are bubble flares or inverted flares. Third gen lines are (usually) metric bubble flares, 4th gen lines may be different. I have a set of Earl's lines for a '98 up LS1 car and the "T" fitting is an inverted flare fitting.

Thanks, so I need to find out if '96 F-bodies have inverted or bubble flare ends.

Call Earl's they will most likely be willing to send you a different T fitting to fit the rear axle.

I suspect Earl's will make him buy a whole kit, they don't like to separate lines or sell in pairs..I've tried that.

If you (Scorpner) still have trouble, call me or PM me. I have a lot of Earl's lines on hand and may just have what you need.

I'll try talking to someone from Earls since I already have one of thier lines. If that doesn't work out, I'll give EB Miller a call. Thanks for the offer.

EB, can you explain how to tell the difference between an inverted and a bubble flare?

Thanks for all the input from everyone!

I used the axle hardlines from a 1997 Camaro on my 1983 T/A, and the flare was the same, on both, at the block on the axle.

The flare was inverted.

Leon.

I think the problem is the aftermarket "T" fitting. I haven't had time to call Earls yet.

Thanks for confirming.
