ls-1 front bracket

Engine: TBI 305, TPI 350
Transmission: Auto, 5 speed
ls-1 front bracket

so ive done much reading and searches and came up with 3 different thicknesses for the calliper mounting brackett that has to be fabbed up. I just wanted to know what thickness is concidered to be the best 3/8 , 1/2 , 5/8 sorry if this has been covered somewhere but i did search and i did read for like 6 hours, even that damn long 8 page thread.

Engine: 5.7 TPI; 5.0 TBI; ZZ4/T56 on the ag
Transmission: A4, A4, slated to be a T56
5/16" actually. On some spindles 3/8" is perfect, on some it's too thick. Use 5/16" just to be safe.

thanx ed for the quick reply.. now i can start fabbin the brackets.

maybe you can tell me the best type of metal to be using. i was told that heat treated 4140 was best but i really dont know much about the differnet metals out there.
