Sticky caliper ! ! WHY ?

Hi !
i was cruisin last week and felt my car slow...and a strange smoke was coming out of the front driver's side wheel ...
i parked the car and noticed the wheel was stucked! like it was with the brakes on ! ...that was one week ago, yesterday i took the car for a ride
and everything was normal,30 minutes later...the problem is back again !
the wheel is almost locked ! i couldnt even move the car if i push it !
real real sticky ! what is causing this ? and why ? i think the caliper is the problem and its stuck ...whats the solution ? thanx !

I had a similar thing happen on my 89. I changed the caliper and it did the same thing again. I found that the rubber brake line that connects to the caliper had become weak was collapsing and not allowing the pressure to back off the caliper. I replaced the rubber hose and have not had a problem since.

That is exactly the problem. Replace the rubber hose and the problem will be gone. I had the same thing happen to me last week.

ya you should ALWAYS replace brake components as a pair on the front cause one side would be worn and the other new, this could cause uneven brakeing =loss of control under emergency conditions!

Brake hoses can be the culprit for sure but the claiper piston can also become pitted and drag not retracting correctly.

Had one dragging on my Caprice awhile back, damn GM part only lasted 210,000 miles and 20 years !
