Brake Drum won't go on...

I just installed new brake shoes and now the drum won't go on over the new shoes, i think i really need to have the drums turned, the inside edge has a little corrosion but i'm sure the drums should slide on over the shoes without too much difficulty.

Yes the parking brake is off and the self adjuster is all the way in..

This is the drivers side - havent attempted the other side yet.

OK, i had the drums turned and they still dont seem to fit right.. can anyone tell if i even have the shoes on the correct way round? one of the shoes has a longer section of material on it and i wantedd to make sure i have the shoes on in the correct order.. It just seems as though something is out of round, surely the drums must be good and round now since i just had them turned?

Any advice anyone?

Try tapping the shoes left, right, up, down. They have to be centered for the drum to slide on.

Turn the adjuster at he bottom of the brakes so the the shoes come in toward the center and you should be able to fit the drum back on. The adjustment has rotated out as the old shoes wore down and now must be readjusted so the Thicker/newer shoes have room.

I hope you can follow me. I'm better at doing than explaining.

Ricco: How did you get that drum on? Im in same situation except my pass side fits on perfect. I have the shorter shoe toward the front and the longer shoe toward the rear. Adjuster is bottomed out. THe Driver side drum wont even reach the wheel studs? It makes it 1/3 way on shoes.

New shoes and drums by the way. And i have nudged the shoes around and uninstall and installed them like 4 times.

Did anyone ever correct this issue with putting in a new spring kit?

Im thinking the return springs are worn out, maybe...
