Sorry, I have searched the threads here but I have a few questions about my particular setup. I am very new to this so bear with me.

First a little background. I have a 91 camaro RS with rear drums. I purchased an 88 formula. The formula has rear disc brakes. I also purchased a seperate rear end out of a fourth gen with what I was told has 3.73 gears and was just rebuilt. I have 4th gen 16" wheels as well. The auto tranny in the formula has just been rebuilt so I am going to use the rear end and the tranny in my Camaro.

Now my questions and I apologize if these have been asked before. Can I take the rear discs off of the formula and use them on my camaro. If so what all do I need to take off the formula. What is the part called just behind the rotor? Is it the mounting bracket. I see how the emergency brake cable is set up on the formula and was told to take that off of the formula. Do I have to take it off all the way up to the ebrake handle or just under the car towards the front? Do I need to use the master cylinder and booster off of the formula as well? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you.

Guess I should have done some more searching. I searched a lot this evening and found this
link_https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brake-board/374632-rear-end-swap-will.html?highlight=4th+gen+rear+brakes

(I couldn't get the link to work so I copied the thread below.

"rear end swap..will these brakes work?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

im swapping a posi rearend from a 97 ws6 t/a into my 3rd gen fbody and it did not come with rear disk brakes...will my stock drums bolt up to the 4th gen rear or do i have to find a rear disk setup to make it work?

"If the rear is a disc rear, please don't waste your time on swapping drums onto a disc rear, that's going backwards in performance. Just get yourself a set of rear LT1 brakes and go. You can find them on Ebay or from other vendors out there. If the rear is a drum rear, it's very easy to do a conversion on the drum rear and upgrade to much better brakes. I just happened to buy two complete LT1 disc setups this week so if you'd like one, send me a PM and we'll get you hooked up. I also have all new stuff if you'd like to go that way, I offer everything you'd need:"

So since my 4th gen rear did not come with brakes I am going to try and find a set of LT1's. Will my master cylinder work ok in my 91 camaro then?

Keep the master you have, it'll work just fine.

Or you could consider this (FYI, the fourthgen rear is wider by 4 inches, IIRC):

still confused
Hey JamesC,

Can you help me. I am not sure what exactly lt1 brakes are. I read they are came on performance packages. So does that mean that my 88 formula has the performance package and that they have lt1 brakes? If so can I swap them onto my 4th gen rear and put the rear on my 91 camaro. Ed said my master cylinder in my camaro is fine. Thanks for the help everyone.
