Need help/info on brakes

My 89 Trans Am has 35,000 miles on it, I have rarely driven it for the past 5+ years, and everything is still all stock (and mostly original parts too). I only drive the car a few times in the summers. The car now pulls noticably to the right when braking, so I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to do new calipers, rotors, pads, etc. I have been looking online and see several options (some say "for performance package"). I don't know much about my TA...Can someone please educate me as to what exactly the performance package is? I have a little thing on my passenger side dashboard that says "Perfromance suspension"...does that mean I have the performance package or is that tag common to TA's?

Thanks,

Jason

"Performance package" for brakes refers to the front-only 1LE aluminum dual-piston PBR caliper on a 12" rotor setup.

So if I do not have the 1LE package, is it simply a matter of getting the 12 inch rotors, PBR calipers, and swapping?

I would guess you have a hose going bad. I would add them to the list of parts. To swap to the 1LE brakes you have to modify the spindle, install the adaptor, install the rotor and bearings, install the carrier, install new caliper and hose. The kit is availible from Spohn. You can look on their site for pics.

Going with something like the LS1 swap is probably a better option these days.

I agree with the statement above. I did my swap before there were other options. If I had it to do over I would have done LS1s.

I was the same, I did the 1LE swap on my 84 using some of the last new factory parts available before anyone had come up with other options. I'd use the more readily available LS1 parts now, though.

The mod is easily done even for someone who's never done it--ask me how I know. I too did the 1LE conversion, both front and rear, before anything else was readily available. I'm very satisfied.
