Drum problem
Just a quick question. Is there something that needs to be taken off of the drum before you remove it. Because I tried to take of my drums today to check the shoes and they simply wont come off. (I did take the E brake off) I'm guessing there just rusted on. Any help would nice. Thank You.

Re: Drum problem
try smacking it with a hammer a couple times, dont beat the heck out of them though, you could bend/break something.

Re: Drum problem
you usually have to unscrew the spreader in order to get the drums off. there should be an oval plug on the inside of the drum underneath the axle that you take out and it will allow you to get in there with a flat head screw driver. it is kind of hard to explain.

Re: Drum problem
Thanks foe the help I finally got my drums off yesterday. I asked my friends dad who is a mechanic and he noted that there aluminum so they bonded to the steel axles. Therefore he banged the crud out of them with a metal hammer and they came off. Then we sanded the drums, squirted some brake cleaner on the innards and used the adjustment screw to make the brakes a little tighter. My brake squeak finally went away. Thanks again.
