For best brake performance with C5 brakes all around?

I have decided to get C5 brakes. To attach the rears there is going to be some custom work, but that will be figured out later. My question is, what about the MC and booster. I have a brand new booster that has never been installed waiting to go in and I replaced the MC a few months ago. I have seen guys running different MC, like 4th gen, SSBC and other chrome ones (not stock chromed). Is there any benefit? Does this help build more pressure, more evenly or anything like that? If so, what is a better MC to get. I am dumping over a grand in this, so I wouldn't mind spending double that to make sure this setup is working to its full potential. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I have contacted him, and he said he will call me tonight. I hope he does. I want to mount C5 Z06 brakes on all 4 corners. I bet it will be a pain in the a$$ to get all the work done and to have them work just the right way, but in the end, i think it will make the car much safer. Thanks for the help.

stock master is fine.. but you'll want an adjustable proportioning valve

Stock booster too? I have the adj. prop. valve already.

Mini-update: I am going to be getting some C5 Z06 calipers from Neil. All I need is Eb Millers backing plates, and some rear Calipers off ebay and I will finally have all the parts I need!

Re: For best brake performance with C5 brakes all around?

Do the rear calipers say Corvette on them like the fronts to? At first I thought the rear C5 calipers were the same as the LS1 rear calipers since everyone seemed to want the LS1s in the rear but then I realized that it was because the Vettes have IRS. How does Ed want for those Vette conversion brackets?

not sure yet, he needs to call me. He was supposed to yesterday, but didn't. I am going to e-mail him again today. The rears don't say corvette. They are PC red though. Look nice.

Re: For best brake performance with C5 brakes all around?

The rear calipers will have no lettering on them, there's no room to put them on them. The rear conversion brackets (C5) are $65 BTW, I have made an adjustment. The LS1 and C5 rear calipers are virtually interchangeable.

Does the parking brake on the C5 calipers work without a bracket or are they just like the LS1 parking brake?

The way Eb has them now, the bracket does not allow for a parking brake

Oh, do the C5 rears have that drum type parking brake like the LS1s do?

Re: For best brake performance with C5 brakes all around?

If this is true then why is Eb Miller selling backing plates that don't allow for an e-brake? He says he is testing a design to try and have one. I am thinking screw it and I am gonna go with LS1 rear and C5 front.

Because right now, with the abilities I have, I can't offer plates with e-brake provisions. Don't get me wrong, backing plates are on the market that DO have e-brakes...and the PLATES ALONE are $700. Yes, $700 and no brake parts come with that. Too much for the average Joe to handle so the plates I offer do not have provisions for a functional e-brake which is OK for some folks. I'm still working on LS1 conversion cables but can't get in touch with the vendor for an update. I'm trying.

At this time, the LT1 or LS1 rear conversions are the best bet for e-brakes.

I think I'll have to go with the LS1 brakes then. I want a functional e-brake. Any idea how much your cabled will cost once you get them finished?

Re: For best brake performance with C5 brakes all around?

I understand, I would prefer a working e-brake as well but I'm just not set up for that. I am hoping to keep the cable cost in the $50-60 range but I cannot give you a solid quote yet, sorry. I may have to totally reinvent them if my endor doesn't come through.

Sounds good. What about the Lokar calbes? Are they OK to use with an LS1 rear brake conversion? Eb, I hope to call you today to work out pricing. Hope to talk to you soon.

That's not too bad, if I remember right that's about what I paid for the cables for my cast iron calipers.

Finally some progress on the LS1 conversion cables..they're sending me some mock up parts for me to look at and give a yes or no to, then moving forward.

dont the ls1 rear e brake and bracket assemblies (stock) fit and work on the 10 bolt rears? you have to use the ls1 style rotor and just put the vette caliper on it.
