Main E-brake cable broken

As the above title states my main e-brake cable is broken. I still have the cable itself but here is the catch. I have contacted every parts dealer i know of and they cannot find the main cable(Pep boys, Advance,GM dealers and even a camaro specialist). This cable im told was discontinued in 2004 by GM. I have a 91 Camaro RS with an 87 trans am rear axle and brakes. I just moved to NH and this is the only thing keeping my car off the road because it fails inspection. From what i can gather the years 1991-92 had a different main cable than the previous ones. Is this true? Im not very familiar with brakes.

Yes, the 91-92 cable is different. Try a junkyard if you can't find a new one.

Re: Main E-brake cable broken

I have tried junkyards around where i live. every single one of them and not a single one has a 91-92 camaro or even a firebird. Would it be an easy install to say, rip the whole fixture from an earlier year and put it in my 91?

I would just find the right cable before I'd do that. Try some of the various advertisers here on thirdgen.
