C5/C6 brake wheel offset?

I've read that swapping a C5 or C6 brake kit would require the use of spacers, and I'm wondering what size spacer is required. What size spacers are you guys using? Does the size of the spacer required change with the type of rims or offset? I have 18" boyd timeless (18 x 8 in front) and a C5 brake upgrade that I haven't installed yet. The backspacing on the rims is 4.75 inches. I would like to avoid using a spacer if I could, so I'm interested in what size spacer is required so I can possibly get front rims with the proper offset. Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: C5/C6 brake wheel offset?

you dont need a spacer just the right size rim diameter, the rotor acts like a spacer pushing the wheel 1/4" out

the issue is wheel diameter and how the wheel is shaped. Some wheels have the "spokes" shooting inward towards as they get farther out from the center of the rim, and this causes clearance issues with the calipers, there is a fitment sheet diagram on BigBrakeUpgrades website, its good for reference.

Most often with stock brakes and 4th gen or C5 wheels guys will run a 2-2.25" spacer. With the upgrade kits often used that add the thickness of the rotor hat on top of the hub, use a 1.75" to 2.0" spacer max and you'll be fine.
