Redoing my brakes -> Questions, and lots of 'em
Hey guys, I've got a 1989 Firebird I'm slowly fixing up paycheck to paycheck. This winter I'm doing the body, and a few others, and hopefully by next summer I will have a new motor, trans, and rear end. Anyways, My question is what it would cost to redo all of my brakes (Biggers disks, and 4 wheel disc) With all new lines, proportioning valves, rubber lines, all of that fun stuff. I want to go with that stuff you can bend with your hand (Stainless would be nice, as well) I know a guy who works at a partsource that can get me a good deal on this, but what would I be looking to pay for all new discs, 4 wheel disc mounting kits, and all of the lines? Would it be smarter to just leave drums in the back?
Thanks, Sorry if this has been asked before, but the search drives me insane with the "60 second waiting period".

For all new upgraded brakes all around with new lines, hoses, master cylinder, harware.... between $1500 and $4000+ depending on how fancy your willing to get. A more cost effective option is just rebuilding what you have - A new master cylinder, hoses, wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, rotors, drums, wheel bearings, seals, fluid, and rebuilt "loaded" front calipers could be had for about $550, assuming you are doing the work yourself. This may not be a terribly sexy option but you'll definitely be stopping better than most! BTW - Have you ever tried to bend stainless steel lines? Even with a bender it's NO FUN!!!
