Brake Experts, Help Me Put Together This Freaking Jigsaw Puzzle....
When I purchased the '91 Formula a few months back, the numb-nut who owned it before me decided to remove the rear calipers, along with the brake lines. Now, the steel line coming from the proportioning valve, to the rearend (where it normally splices into two), is still there, but it's capped of course to allow for the car to stop. Now, I do have the pieces that he so generously gave me when I bought the car (they were in the trunk), but before I get down under, can some of you guys let me know if this is everything, or is something missing. Now, I do have new brake pads, and the only other thing missing that I'm aware of are the bolts (caliper bolts, etc) to bolt everything together, but as far as everything else though, what do you see that might be missing from the picture. Thanks guys....

Five pieces in the pic; Two calipers, two steel lines, and one rubber line....

Except the hardware to bolt everything up like you mentioned, the only big thing I can guess at would be the park brake cables and hardware. The operating levers are there, but the springs are missing.
I bought a rear end from the junk yard that had the same cast iron calipers on it. I ended up using those for cores and getting new ones (new ones come with all their hardware, except park brake hardware). Parking brake cables were hard to find, NAPA had to order the passenger side directly from Raybestos for me.
Passenger side hard line routing, also shows the spring for the park brake...

Driver side with the splitter...

Your absolutely right Al, the Park Brake assembly has been removed by the former owner, I honestly forgot to mention that. How much did it run you through Napa when you purchased a new set, using the existing calipers as cores? A new caliper set w/springs will allow for it to be Park Brake ready, but I'll have to search the bone yard for a decent assembly later on to actually make it functional. In the interim though, I haven't purchased calipers in awhile, will it be costly with the cores? Also, would the newer calipers include the mounting hardware, as well as newer bleeder screws? Thanks....

At NAPA, the calipers cost me $78 apiece with a core charge of $88 apiece (they want them back apparently). Calipers come with everything you need (bleed screws, banjo bolts, mounting hardware). I used the park brake hardware from the calipers I used as cores, the new ones didn't come with it. If I remember correctly, the park brake cables ran in the neighborhood of $30 apiece.

I didn't know anything about speed bleeders until I got my brakes all assembled and bled using a helper.

^ Just called Pep Boys, $70.00 each, $88.00 w/core, gonna go with them. Considered those speed bleeders once upon a time, but bleeding the regular way isn't too bad though. Gonna just stick with the tried and true method (heard the speed bleeders work fine in the beginning, but act up in time). Thanks again Al.....!
