HELP,bleeder valve problem

I found a bad front break line and i have it removed but now i need to bleed the front brakes and the bleeder valves are rusted tight, I soaked them in wd40 but they still won't come loose, I tried vise grips on one but it only rounded off the shoulders.

What do i do now?

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

same thing happened to me. 2 calipers later, problem solved. get speed bleeders and make sure to hit the calipers with some paint to stave off the rust.

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

To save time, just get a set of rebuilt calipers and return yours as cores. You're looking at $30-35 bucks but the time you save will be worth it.

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

No offense here, but since you already rounded the bleeder screw off odds are that once you get it loose you'll never get it tight again. OK, if cash is an issue just do the one side caliper, or get the thing out and replace the screw.

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

Thanks for the advice.
I sold a couple things to a friend for some quick cash and bought the calipers.
This really added up into a bigger job ,but i guess i saved alot of money doing it myself.
I wound up buying everything from napa,a new hose, two rotors because the others couldn't be turned, the calipers i got a package deal with premium pads included from napa for just a little more than autozone.
it sure made it easier to put back together with new parts.
now tomorrow the brake bleeding.

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

In the future, in tight situations, you can bleed thru the rubber brake line where it meets the caliper, but you won't be able to get the air out of the caliper that way.

Re: HELP,bleeder valve problem

Thanks for the advice.

Everything went good. with the new calipers there was a huge amount of air in them but after a few times they bled good and got a great pedel.
I'm glad i didn't have to bleed all four wheels, i bet the back ones would have been rusted bad too.
I'll worry about that next time the brakes need replaced back there.
