ls1 master cylinder?
can I swap out my stock master cylinder for one from an ls1? I am looking for one a little more compact and I think the ls1' masters would work. I need more procharger clearance.

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
If it bolts up, and it should, yo might need to change the pushrod on the booster as your stock one may be a hair too long. I have a similar problem using a master cylinder from a 2002 SS, I had brakes when I didn't want brakes and heated up the calipers pretty good. I'm still looking for a different pushrod, or I need to machine the stock one down.

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
all 93+ boosters and all 98+ masters are the same...v6 to v8...so don't pay extra for a "LS1 Master cylinder" and/or booster. I swapped in the entire booster and master from a 2000 Camaro V6 so that i didn't have problems with the pushrod. Threaded right in to the proportioning valve just like stock, just had to do a couple slight bends of the lines and it all went together nicely and looks great
As far as using a 3rd gen booster, i didn't obviously so i can't comment on that end of it, although i believe as mentioned above it is possible.

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
Stupid question here, but what is the easiest way to order the right one from, say, NAPA?
Exactly which model should I ask for?
Thanks!

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
Just say you want a M.C. from a 98-02 firebird/camaro. They are all the same.
They are expensive new though. I've bought 2 used ones from LS1tech.com's classifieds for under $45 shipped each to my door and under 40,000 miles on both. I think a new one goes for around $160.

So 86+ camaros are a adirect swap for the ls1 master cylinder correct? I just want it since its more compact and my air cleaner can tuck by it better!

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
Thanks, here's one I grabbed off of napaonline.com:
http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...Cylinder+-+New
I think it will come in at about $125.
I notice that there is an electrical connector on the side of it. I assume you just leave that disconnected...
Thanks!

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
Without seeing this connector, could it just be the low level sensor?

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
I'm sure it is. It is in the reservoir, so I can't believe it is anything like a pressure sensor. I would think leaving it unhooked is the way to go.
I need to replace my MC anyway, so I thought it would be nice to get a new reservoir as well without all the built up crud.
I just don't want to start throwing brake codes on the computer. I can't see how I would, but I wanted to make sure.

Re: ls1 master cylinder?
you need to tweak the brake lines from the master to the prop valve a little
