Brake caliper problems

Hey Guys,

My car started pulling to the left on Sunday (it did this last year around the same time and I took it to the shop were they told me it was a collapsed brake line and all the other upsale parts before I got out of there).

I decided to do the repairs myself this time and purchased new rotors, calipers and brake lines (disk brakes on the front, drums in the back).

The rotors were a breeze (thanks to the walk through on the brake site).

I think I found the problem that started the brakes grabbing and pulling to the left (the bottom retainer bolt on the right hand side - passenger side knuckle? threads are stripped, how do I fix this problem)?

Also, is the bleeder screw (passenger side) supposed to be located on the top front of the caliper (facing the bumper)?

Also, on the other drivers side the caliper doesn't want to sit right but when I try it without the brake line attached it does sit right, the brake line seems to be the cause (looks pretty tight back there) they are the same size as I compared the new with the old.

This is my first foray into the wonderful world of brakes so any help would be most appreciated.....thanks.

Re: Brake caliper problems

Okay, got the brake hose and caliper issues work out.

Just need to know the procedure to repair the stripped threads that the bottom retainer bolt on the right side caliper bolts onto (knuckle, suspension - not sure of the proper name)?

Anyone ??

Got the "heli coil" kit, worked great - drilled a 29/64" hole in the knuckel, tapped it out, installed a 7/16" coil and installed the caliper.

Now on to the bleeding of the brakes, 1 question - if I only did the front disks do I have to bleed the back drums also....

hello, hello....is there anyone out there !!
