Buying new calipers do i even need these things?????

Im in the middle of restoring a posi disc rear and the calipers are shot, abused, rusted, and not worth the hastle, heres my question though, do i need those bracket like things that have like 6 1"X3" (or so) plates that are sandwiched together? They're held on by and 11/16 nut on each side, i cleaned em up anyway but im gonna attach a photo. Im not sure what they're for but they're obviously there for something lol

ALSO, since im getting a new set of calipers does anyone have the part #'s for the caliper recall kit?

Those are the parking brake levers. Yes, you need them.

ah perfect then! i already cleaned em up with a rust inhibitor and im gonna spray them all later, already got the diff cover and bolts done too so now i just have the avle itself but im still chipping off old hardened grease and god knows what else off lol

one more question, the "bracket" you get when you buy the new set those wouldnt happen to be the same brackets that are held on by the torx screw would they? because today i stripped out that torx so bad its not even funny, the thing was so rusted it just turned to dust when i pulled on the wrench >_<

You don't get a bracket when you buy new calipers.

Re: Buying new calipers do i even need these things?????

I just put a posi rear end under my 85, the rear was from an 87. I am not happy at all with those calipers. I would upgrade to the PBR's. I am thinking of doing that now, after I have spent $150 on new calipers that I don't like, $70 on Hawks HP+ pads, and $160 on cross drilled and slotted rotors.

I know it is expensive to upgrade, but I am MAD at myself for not doing before spending all of this $.

If you stay with this style caliper, let me know if you are interested in rotors and pads with 500 miles on them. I love the pads and rotors, I am just sick of the calipers.
