91 z-28 convertible-rear brakes

91 z-28 convertible-rear brakes

ok-i have a 1991 z-28 convert w/drum rear brakes. want to convert to disc. i have in my possession several 99 & 00 camaro z-28 rearend assemblies. can i use these brakes? do i need an adapter? i also have access to an 89 gta rear assy-would these brakes work better? any help greatly appreciated.

i read this post but the conversion was not completed-does it work & what proportioning valve was used? also i think i read someone is producing adapters for the ls-1 brake converswion?

I don't understand what adapter you would need. You trim the housing, drill the holes out, and bolt everything on like in the article. No adapters needed. Then you will need a disk/disk prop valve. And you can even use the LS1 style hard lines with a little work to them. I've posted pics of how I did this, and pics of the brake lines I made up. The real work comes in setting the ebrake cables up.

Other than fabbing up the ebrake cables, it's a pretty straight forward swap.

Nope, no adpater needed on the rears. Just a bit of work fabbing up the cables for the e-brake.

Not bad Ed. Doing Ok really, just had my hand operated on this morning, hurts like h*ll. But they did give me some good drugs to take But I'm down for 10 days now. Puts a big crimp in my plans. But at least I got my T56 in before they cut me open. Been about 9 hours now since surgery and Im already going nuts sitting.
