HELP! Front Caliper WONT depress!
Hey guys, I need some help, a few weeks ago my brakes started squeeling, so when i got my paycheck i went and bought some new pads since my rotors are still good. Putting them on today, and the front driver side caliper will NOT depress. I've tryed using two different c-clamps (at the same time too) and it just will NOT go in. Any suggestions? =/
Sorry i made this post in the suspension thread, misclicked

If you open the bleeder and it depresses it needs a brake hose. It is usually rule of thumb to replace both front hoses at one time.

Did you take the Master Cylinder cover off first? If not, it will hold pressure & not allow line fluid to return to the Master Cylinder reservoir.

sounds like a frozen caliper to me but you can try the other ideas above first.... being as old as these cars are now a frozen caliper is very common

crack the bleeder screw and then try it ive always been told to do this because it forces out the bad fluid, rust, water, trash, etc out of the caliper if not and you leave it closed it forces all of that back up through your lines and back into your master cylinder and contaiminates your system plus the holes in the master cylinder are only so big so its not very hard to stop them up and need new calipers, new lines, new master cylinder and plus the time to flush it all out and install it your looking at alot of downtime.
plus you may have cocked the piston inside the caliper pull the caliper loose and put a block of wood in front of the caliper close the bleeder screw, take a blow gun and blow a little air into the brake fluid line port, Warning! DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS BETWEEN THE PISTON AND THE BLOCK OF WOOD UNLESS YOU LIKE LOOSING YOUR FINGERS.SLICE. clean out your caliper and get a rebuild kit install a new o-ring some brake fluid on the o-ring and you should be able to just slide the piston back into the caliper.
