How do you replace the e-brake handle?
Just like the title says I need to replace my e brake handle. The switch is bad (so the dash light is on all the time) and it wont ratchet. I found a clean one on ebay and now need to install it.
I did a thread search but couldnt find anything about just replacing the handle.

You may be able to pull without removing the consel...just taking the top piece off. But you will have more room to work in if you remove it. May also want to pull the pass seat too. It's pretty straight forward to replace it. Once you get the new one you'll see how it mounts. I think the hardest part is getting the cable off the old one. A small hose clamp works good to compress the tabs to slide the cable through the hole.
I just re-read the original question...if it's just the plastic handle it's real easy. There is one screw on the inside (toward the consel). Remove said screw and it pulls off.

Thanks for the reply.
I need to replace the entire unit so your first paragraph is what I needed to know.
