Which parking brake cables?

I have a 86 Z28 I'm putting a 95 LT1 differential in. Would the parking brake cables for a 90-92 with disc brakes work better then the cables from the 95?

Re: Which parking brake cables?

Not for your '86, the '90-92 cables are for the cars with no adjustment in the trans tunnel. You need "first design" cables for the '88-early '90 cars.

Ed, Rockauto shows the first design (1434 mm) available in 90, 91, and 92. Which makes sense, I guess, because of this from Duck: Yes, the "long adjusting bolt" version shown in the [Ed's] photo is the same as the '92 Z28 with disk brakes.

RockAuto shows the second design (1460 mm) in 91 and 92.

I've always 'assumed' that these were correct. At any rate, I used the first design in a PBR conversion into my 85, which has the tunnel adjustment, and all went well. The longer second design would have been used for cars unequipped with the tunnel adjustment, correct?

Re: Which parking brake cables?

I had looked on rock auto and it showed the first design, which is what I heard before to get. Will the cables be routed the same as the cables for the drums on my car right now? will they reach the calipers okay since the 4th gen rear is a little wider?

From what I have learned/experienced, yes.

They will route the same as on your car. Over the rear axle, then around and under to the cable bracket. Connect to the calieper bracket first, then to the cable in the tunnel and adjust.
