Caliper Issues..... Again
Caliper Issues..... Again
Okay so when I first got the car, about 3 months into driving it, the caliper just kind of... froze. Smoke everywhere. It was the same day that I got my pads replaced. so I had to get the car towed. I replaced the caliper, and it was fine.
So yesterday, im on my lunch break and it starts pulling to the left. I could kind of feel it doing the same thing. I managed to get back to work, but it was still hot and it was smoking. SO an hour after that when i left work, I was expecting to just barely make it home without it smoking like crazy (i live about 10 minutes from work).
But when I started driving, the issue seemed to have resolved itself. Now thats what I had thought until i had to stop. Pedal goes all the way down to the floor and I barely have enough to stop at the sign. I bled the lines today and it fixed the problem JUST enough to where I feel like I can drive it safely. This is the same side that was replaced about 2 years ago.
The car has always pulled a little to the right when you slam the breaks, but the right caliper may just have a little more grab.
This all happened right after I finally got myself detached from this car and I was going to sell it. Yeah. Im pretty sure it knows what im thinking and its just trying to **** me off now.

Re: Caliper Issues..... Again
The symptoms you describe would seem to indicate the rubber brake hoses acting as check valves.

Re: Caliper Issues..... Again
had it happen to me . with age they collapse internally , can act as check valves both ways . good idea to replace them all , they are keyed to lt. & rt. so be sure to install on correct location . good luck . Thread
