LS1 or C4 HD under 16" Irocs?

I've done hrs worth of searching, I just want opinions and/or suggestions (post up pictures if you got em). I will be using my stock 16" Iroc wheels and I do not see myself buying wheels for a long period of time. I however will be driving my car shortly and want to upgrade my brakes now.

I'm undecided between the LS1 setup or the C4 HD 13" setup. Consider my driving style to be hard so the best performing brakes would be a plus. After searching I see that most say that the C5 caliper is actually better performing than the LS1 but would require the casting to be ground down to fit the 16" wheel, which, correct me if I am wrong, is not recommended. Also, for comparison, I've read that the 1LE and C4 calipers are almost identical in performance, is this true? Which of these setups are you guys using under your 16" wheels?

Also, those of you with these brakes, please post up any aftermarket rotors and pads that you are using. Pics here would be a great plus! I was having trouble finding aftermarket rotors for these setups, if anyone is using them. Thanks

Re: LS1 or C4 HD under 16" Irocs?

I actually have both. The C4 HD for the front and LS1 rears. So far this combo has worked really well for me. I purchased it all through Ed on here and couldn't be happier. You can see from the one pic that I am running the 16" Irocs for now. I'm using AC delco rotors for the front and raybestos for the rear, hawks pads all around.

Really nice car! Reminds me of my car when I first got it, very clean looking. Very nice setup. Thanks for posting

Re: LS1 or C4 HD under 16" Irocs?

Thank you! I just installed brand new springs so it has a little 4x4 look to it. I might be getting some new wheels soon so I'll probably play with the ride height some more.

I also wanted to mention that with the LS1 rear setup the parking brake is a "drum type" and most people have problems getting the right parking brake cables. I have the part numbers for the cables I used and they only needed some minor mods.

Re: LS1 or C4 HD under 16" Irocs?

Yea I was reading up on the rears and some people stated that you would need the brackets and cables from the donor car for an easier install. Then I ran into other people saying that they used a longer cable from a later model 3rd gen.

Anyone else wana post up their brakes with specs? I'm looking for some different rotors in particular for either setup, LS1 or C4. Thanks
