Re: 4gen caliper on 3gen Bracket Backing Plates
i have a 9 bolt, do the F body PBRs also hook up w/ the 3rd gen parking brake cables? I could swear the parking brake stuff is different on the later ones. I think i need 89-92 stuff for mine, including the backing plate since mine has the iron calipers and one side is leading, the other trailing (which looks ridiculous)

Yes, you need first design rear cables for your '87 and it's a bolt on deal. The leading/trailing thing allowed GM to use the same caliper on either side, lowering cost...and looking terrible.

What are 1st design rear cables? What year did they come on? I assume 88-92 w/ the pbr rear calipers?

Re: 4gen caliper on 3gen Bracket Backing Plates
Astro Van will mean leaf springs & no panhard bar, so a LOT of work fitting one in, regardless of the outcome. Might as well get a Ford 9" at that point, then your strength worries are pretty much over with.
