Brake Lines 4th Gen Rear

I installed the 4th Gen rear (2000 Z28) in my 91 GTA, which was a cake walk. However, the rear did not come with brake lines and Finelines/others do not make them.

What would be the best way to put brake lines on the car? Is there a kit or should I just get an fittings and braided stainless steel hose?

Your help is much appreciated!

Can you find brake lines for a 4th gen rear from another donor car/rear? Maybe adapt thirdgen lines to it?

Else I'd probly by some brake line tubing/flare tool/etc and fab up your own set.

3rd gen drum lines should be long enough, but you will have to tweak the ends a little bit.

dont use flex lines for the entire run, the pedal will be spongy

Don't drum brakes use a hard line al the way to the shoes? So you'd hafta add a flex/rubber end, to go from the hard line to the caliper itself.

Re: Brake Lines 4th Gen Rear

If you got the brake line brackets that fit over the lower control arm brakets your in business. The rubber flex lines are readily available, and then it's a simple matter to make up the hard lines from the flex hoses to the T fitting. You can rent flaring tools from a parts store. I modified the 4th gen lines when I put the LS1 style disks on my 3rd gen rear. Was really easy and worked out very well for me.

Re: Brake Lines 4th Gen Rear

Thanks guys! I will jsut mock up something by myself. I have an odd combination of parts that I was trying to make work. However, I think it is best to just start fresh and fab something.

I have braided steel lines for brakes that are 3an to bubble flare. I also have the adapter that goes from the 10mm banjo bolt in the caliper to 3an. So, I think I am going to connect the 3an fitting to the caliper adapter and then run a hard line to the T on the axle. However, most hard lines have inverted flares correct? Thoughts?
