Brake vacume leak?
My brake pad makes a noise when I press it down,it sounds like air coming out. It only does this in park with motor running. If I put it in reverse or drive and press the brake I dont get any noise. Is this normal?

Bad booster. I'll bet it still does it in R-D, just not as loud. Try this, shut the engine off, wait about 30 seconds and pull the vacuum line from the booster. It should POP as the vacuum breaks If it doesn't, it's probably bad.

No, you don't want to take that apart. There's a big nasty spring in there. Buy a rebuilt, they're not that much. Another way to tell is just shut the car off and step on the brakes. You should get a couple of power assisted pumps before it gets hard to push. If it's hard right away, it's leaking.

Re: Brake vacume leak?
I tried both options today and both showed a leaking booster.
Thanks JV for your info.
