usa vs canada built Camaro. Parking brake cable
I am looking to buy a left rear parking brake cable and the auto parts store asked if my car was built in Canada or the United States.
My car is not accessable so I cant check. Is there even a difference between the parking brake set up between the states built and canada built cars?
My main question is will a US e-brake work for both builds?
thanks a lot

Here is some more info.
The cable they have is "made for american market"
It's made by raybestos
model number: BC93084
A picture is attatched.
Is there any way to tell if the car is made in Canada or the States by the physical features of the car.

ok so you found out it was made in canada because of the door jamb. But how did you find out it was an US model?

Canadian cars will also have an extra digit in the odometer because they are in kilometers.

If the first number in the VIn is a 1 it was for the USA, if it's a 2 it for Canada.
Vehicle Identification Number Example: 1G1FP2184NL100000
First Digit Nation of Origin: 1=USA, 2=Canada
Second Digit Division: G=General Motors
Third Digit: 1=Chevrolet, 7=GM of Canada('83-'88)
Fourth & Fifth Digit Body Style: FP=Camaro Sport Coupe, FS=Firebird, FW=Trans Am
Six Digit: 2=Hatchback, 3=Convertible
Seventh Restraint Codes: 1=Manual Belts, 2 or 3=Manual w/ Driver Air Bag, 4=Auto Belts
Eigth Digit Engine: See Engine Codes Below
Ninth Digit is Check digit
Tenth Digit Year: H=87, J=88, K=89, L=90, M=91, N=92
Eleventh Digit Production Plant: N=Norwood,Ohio, L=Van Nuys
Last Six Digits increase by one with each car built at each plant

Re: usa vs canada built Camaro. Parking brake cable
I was wrong about the car being built in Canada, along with the info on the door jamb. There are two stickers on the jamb. One states the tire size/pressures along with the gross vehicle weights (ft/rr). The other sticker has the VIN and the year of the vehicle along with stating that it meets all US regulations concerning bumpers, safety equipment and so on.
As far as where the car was made, well, it was made all over the world with the final assembly done in Van Nuys Ca, USA. This is from the window sticker:
"This GM product, including all components, is produced for Chevrolet by various GM operation and suppliers to GM worldwide."
"FINAL ASSEMBLY VAN NUYS CA. USA"
What the auto parts store may be looking for is the market rather then where the car was built. So the door jamb sticker may still help as it would (hopefully) designate the intended market country. Instead of stating it meets US regulations, it would say it meets Canadian regulations.
