Emergency Brake doesnt WORK!@!!!@

Emergency Brake doesnt WORK!@!!!@

My Emergency Brake on my Automatic 92 Firebird doesnt work, I pull it up so its engaged, the light comes on saying its on, but it doesnt actually ENGAGE MY DAMN BRAKES! I needed them once and I pulled it and nothing happened. WAHT IS WRONGG!?!?! Please Help.

ps From wat i can see, nothing seems to be wrong in the interior. maybe underneath the car??

A visual examination is probably the first thing you should do. BTW, if you're a thirdgen freak, I highly suggest purchasing a shop manual for your car. It's one of the best investments you can make.

Pull the rear wheels off and have someone watch to see if anything is moving when you pull up on the lever

Could be a broken connection anywhere from lever to brakes
Could be very worn down brakes

Def get a Shop or Haynes Manual...cheap and worth it

i just bought a haynes manual...itll be here soon, but i think you might be right on the broken connection

cables may also be rusted inside their outer sleeve.

It could also need adjustment mine does, I pull it straight vertical and it stops the wheels a little but not completely. Just a possibility
