ive got 12" rear PBR brakes factory, and i want to switch to the ls1 rear calipers because they are smoother [mainly a looks swap] and will look better against c5 front brakes.. what am i looking at to change?

Speed, I'm unsure what you currently have (an OE 89 with PBR's would be a 9-bolt, but you mention 3.73 gears which are a 10-bolt gear).

At any rate, the LS1 system is designed for a 10-bolt. The 9- and 10-bolt housing ends have different bolt patterns.

hmm, i have factory 12" rears on a 9 bolt, but now i have a hybrid 8.8 rear with 9 bolt tubes. at any rate we can just pretend its a 9 bolt which means i need a different backing plate for them to swap. hmmm im gonna search 9bolt with ls1 brakes as see what comes up.

The backing plate is a part of the LS1 set-up as seen in the following pic:

As far as I know, there isn't a 9-bolt plate for that set-up. Should you find anything, please post the results.
