will this flaring tool work
hi.recently my rear brakeline burst due to rust and i cannot find any 6mm line or metric fittings at any local parts stores.ive read some posts on here about using 1/4in line and drilling the fittings a bit so that was the route i plan on taking.i know i need to bubble flare the line so i was looking on ebay.they have a few cheap kits but they are intended for metric size lines.i know theres only a tiny difference between 6mm and 1/4in so i asked the seller if it would work for 1/4in line.he said it should but could not say for sure.so i was wondering if anyone knows for sure if it would work or if anyone has used a metric flaring set on sae line.

Re: will this flaring tool work
If it flares ¼" line, no. It will make a 45° SAE flare. You need a bubble flare.
I don't know what you've read on here, but unfortunately, not everything everybody posts on the Internet is fact. (gasp) If you read that, even if it was here, it would fall into that category.
There's more to it than just the size.

a 6mm tool will work on 1/4 line, it will slightly crimp the tubing , but no big deal. a 1/4" kit will not work on 6mm, it cant get tight enough.
so long as its a bubble flare tool, it will work. I have a couple cheap ebay ones for various flares and they all have help up pretty well.
you can use the stock 6mm nuts on the 1/4" line if you drill out the nuts, i've done it a few times.
for tubing and fittings, these guys have everything
