Brake Light Problem
Alright so i know absolutley nothing when it comes to brakes.. I had my front rotors and pads replaced about a year or so ago on my 1988 firebird.. during the time of replacement, I was told by a family friend trusted mechanic that my rear drums were okay for the time being, but the wheel cylinders were starting to look bad and the shoes were okay but would need to be replaced eventually. I had my parking brake on today, and when i disengaged it my brake light on the dash remained on. I tried wiggling around and pulling up my ebrake a few times to see if it would go off but the light is staying on. its not affecting my driving whatsoever, but I was wondering if what would be causing the light stay on constantly? Is the e-brake just out of adjustment? or is it something else? Ive never experienced this problem before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Re: Brake Light Problem
Okay.. so I was driving yesterday and the brake light remained on in the instrument cluster like it had recently been doing.. before driving, I checked for brake fluid leaking on the rear wheels and there was no visual fluid from what I could see. I pulled out of my neighborhood and about that time I tried pushing my brakes in order to slow down for a slight turn, and my brake pedal dropped to the floor. Luckily the e-brake worked well enough for me to get the car turned around and back to my driveway. after checking in more depth, and the master cylinder, I found that all the fluid leaked out. There is no trace of fluid in my driveway or on the underside of my car. Im clueless. But after pulling the rear drums off, I found that the wheel cylinders werent working. Believe it or not none of the local parts stores have them in stock. Im in the process of putting new shoes, drums, and wheel cylinders on once i can get ahold of a set. Hopefully this fixes the problem

Re: Brake Light Problem
Since you have to rebleed anyway - replace the rubber brake lines if you haven't. They make alot of difference in braking to have new ones.

Yeah I noticed one of the lines were starting to split, I'm going to go ahead and replace them while I'm at it..
