what calipers will work?

what calipers will work?

I put a 82 transam disk brake rearend in my 83 drum brake firebird. it needs new calipers but no supliers around hear list them. eny boby know what will fit out of another year or even another car?

82-88 F-body

AFAIK all the same, except for the fittings being SAE in 82 & 83 instead of metric 84-up, not sure what you would use for the banjo bolt

Get the "caliper recall kit" from the dealer and install it in your new ones

You also need the right combo valve; that's going to be a little tougher to get, since it has the same fitting issue

You can also do conversions from other cars/models but those will take different brackets to make it fit. Check out www.flynbye.com Ebmiller over there sells some kits. That should at least give you a decent idea of starting points.

Like sofakingdom said you'll need different valve. Good call on the fitting sizes I didn't even know they used SAE on some.

A general FYI: There have been reports that some later cars (1985, for example) are equipped with the old style iron valve with metric fittings, so some caution should be exercised in replacing.

Thanks guys that helps a lot. I can probly find adapters or replace everything with metric parts. all lines need replaceing enyway, front calipers and master cyl are verry old to.
