Greasing the Calipers
Greasing the Calipers
So I went out this morning to grease everything in my car because it sat for 2 years before I bought it. I got the wheels off and greased the back drum and then went to grease the front caliper. I couldn't get the grease gun on the valve. Do I have to take the calipers off the rotor in order to grease this or is there a trick I have to do (like turning the wheel a certain way or something stupid like that). Thanks guys

There's no grease fittings on the brake system. You're trying to pump grease into the bleeder screws.

Ok that makes sense...so now my question is there a way to grease the pins that the calipers slide on? the guy that had it before me sprayed some white lithium grease on it but that just doesn't seem like it would be safe or long lasting

Yes, you take the pins out, grease everything, and then put it back together.

Re: Greasing the Calipers
that made me laugh.Yea use specific brake grease usually synthetic grease, clear with a flourescent hue. Just the pins and contact points on caliper and pad. Judging from your first post. NO GREASE ON DISC, DRUMS OR PAD FACES.
