LS1 vs. C4 front brakes with GTA wheels

Starting to gather info and parts for the LS1 front brake retrofit. i came across a post about the LS1 calipers "spreading" under continued hard braking like you would see in auto-x and that's something i want to do with my car. So that got me looking into the C4 front brakes.
So what are pros and cons of the two?

Cons (if you could even call these cons):
modding spindles
having brackets made
converting rotors into hubs

Pros:
Awesome brakes
LS and C4 calipers are interchangeable

All the info you'll need:

ls and c4 brakes are not interchangable on the same bracket.

Also, wheels will be pushed out due to 1LE rotor/hub offset + thickness disc hub. In other words, it might rub. Have a GTA here that rubs to the point that the inner fenders had to be taken out. It has the 12.5" C5 front upgrade.

Do you have to use the 1LE rotor/hub with the C4 front brakes? That would suck alittle because i already have a standard rotor that i've machined down to a hub.

Sorry I was thinking C5.

if you're using the standard C4 brakes and not the HD ones, you can use the regular fbody rotors to make your hubs

so i'm leaning more to the side of the C4's because of the spreading issue some people have reported.
Buuuut!
The LS1's are bigger than the C4's. Larger pistons and thicker rotors. But does the extra material on the fixed side of the caliper compensate thinner rotor?

what exactly do you mean by compensate? the ls1 calipers with pads should correctly fit ls1 rotor thickness, c4 calipers w/ pads should fit c4 rotor thickness.

I opted for the ls1 setup just because of availability of parts and pricing. most parts were at my local part stores without needing any special ordering or waiting, couldnt say the same for vette stuff (but i am in a very honda-oriented area, so stocking out here's a bit different for us domestic car owners)

Re: LS1 vs. C4 front brakes with GTA wheels

I haven't had an issue yet with my LS1 brakes and it's been 2 years I've had them. They work amazing and I got them from Ed Miller on here (flynbye performance).

I haven't even needed to change the pads yet. The only issue I had with this brake kit is that the pads have squeaked when I brake from day 1. Very VERY annoying when coming to a stop, also embarrassing lol.
