Installing braided lines on 82 Trans Am
Hi all,
I recently bought a Stop Flex braided line kit from Hawks for my 82 Trans Am, front disc rear drum and I'm having some fitting issues. I've emailed Hawks but haven't heard back from them yet.
The rear line installs without a problem but I can't help think the front lines aren't the right ones. I've read http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te...s/photo_17.htm and they have a photo of the front line installed.
This looks rather different from the factory setup as shown in the photos below. You can see in the photos how the factory rubber brake line curves nicely upwards towards the top of the car and is held in place on the strut.
In another photo I've put my new brake line along the same path as shown in the Chevy magazine article - but is this correct? It seems to me that the braided line would be subject to rubbing on various suspension parts such as the strut since it's not fixed in place like the factory rubber line is.
Has anyone else installed the Stop Flex braided lines in their cars? Or can anyone tell me whether or not I'm worrying about nothing?
Thanks in advance

The link to Chevy High Perf doesn't work, so we're missing a visual. Without more info, I'd personally be a bit apprehensive. I realize your set-up is different from that in the following link, but the lines there route in the same fashion as the OE's and have the same mounting point on the strut:

Whoops, I missed a single letter from the link, so this should work better: http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te.../photo_17.html
Thank you for the picture - what I received doesn't install as nicely as that.
I wish Hawks would reply to my email. I think they supplied me the correct kit, but the contents of the kit is inappropriate. ClassicTube do supply an angled banjo so I may have to get a couple of those and something to mount the brake line to the strut.
