LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
Ok just completed the lt1 rear swap on my car. Now I'm about to do the LS1 front brake swap, I got all the parts to do the swap. The only thing that is got me a little confused is the brake hoses, I bought some stainless steel brake hoses made for the front 1998-2002 camaro brakes. I've read that the stock brake hoses will fit on the ls1 calipers but will the 1998-2002 brake hoses connect to the hard lines without reflaring the brake lines?

The brake hoses are stoptech stainless steel brake hoses. I bought these hoses before I knew you could use stock hoses to do the brake swap.

Yeah, stock hoses will work just fine. They have to be 3rd gen hoses or they won't have the provision to bolt to the strut.

Re: LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
Thanks 86TA I wonder if I could modify the ls1 ss brake hoses to mount to the strut like the 3rd gen brake hoses. If anyone else has done this I would like to hear from please. I would hate to have bought these new brake hoses and not be able to use them.

Re: LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
I just swapped my factory lines (they seemed kind of stretched to reach all the way ot the caliper) with factory 1LE lines, and they're a good 2 inches longer each side. They don't really fit right either. I was able to shoehorn them in, sorta curly-q'd, but at least I got them into the hose brackets.
This is what happened with my stock lines that I couldnt get into the brackets:
The wheel weight was catching hte line and snatchign it into the caliper over and over and then it would finally get "hung" and just rub into the wheel for a while. Not a good situation...

Yeah it definitely doesn't need to do that, thanks for posting, I think I'm going to use the aftermarket LS1 hoses that I bought when I get to that step. Yesterday I removed the rotors, dust sheilds, and spindles.

Re: LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
It worked great with the stoptech stainless steel brake hoses made for ls1 brakes. I'll have to post some pics but had to cut some metal off the mounting brackets and relocate them and removed the brackets that mounted it to the struts because the brake hoses didn't have the middle section to mount to the struts. The brakes stop great and one of best upgrades I've done so far.

Re: LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
Overall this was not to hard of a swap, it did produce great results. The front and rear brakes both stop way better than the stock brakes ever did. I think a must is to get a new proportional valve or the grainger spring like I did or the rear brakes will not hardly stop at all.

Re: LS1 front brake swap brake hose question?
I bought these hoses before I did all my research on the brake swap. Yeah I eliminated the brake line guide that mounted to the struts. The way I did it works well though in my opinion.
