Proportioning valve question

Needing some direction. My car has drum breaks on the rear, I now have a disc brake 3.73 posi rear to put back under it. Heres where I need help do I need to replace the proportion valve or not? I work at O'reillys and have found we dont offer a replacement valve for any of the 82-92 model cars. I called our tech support line and was told it didn't have to be changed, but a couple of my mechanic buddies told me it does. Thanks for any advise in advance.
