So I took my 84 Trans Am to a local mechanic and he says I need new cables and calipers. He says I need to do a pick a part cus they dont make them anymore and he doesnt want to work on it. Says the car is a money pit. Anyways. I dont believe him. Anyone know of a place I could order these from and since im at it recommend everything I should get while im doing them?

Re: Hand Brake
Well, he was half right, these cars are money pits, but so is any good hobby when you think of it.

Any local autoparts store will have the parts you need, sounds like that mechanic was just lazy.

Autozone has the front calipers for $14 (if you have your old calipers to bring in). They also have the rear ones for like $50.

There's also RockAuto.com, they have all the parts for our cars as well.

If you're replacing the calipers and cables then I'd also check the front calipers, and also all your rotors. That's just what comes to mind.

Anytime. You can also peruse the classified's section on here and see if anyone is selling any kits or anything for cheap if you wanted to upgrade or something.
